Can you wear dress loafers with a suit?

With almost every suit, yes, and in summer they beat laces on both comfort and sense: a coal Cranium or Leon under charcoal or navy tailoring reads fully formal, and the loafer's clean vamp keeps the trouser line unbroken. The exceptions are white-tie and the strictest black-tie rooms, which still expect laces; for those, start at men's dress shoes. Everywhere else, the slip-on is the more modern read.

Do brown dress loafers work in an office?

Yes, the TPR soles are cemented rather than moulded, so a competent cobbler can strip and replace them when the tread finally gives. The uppers, genuine leather, will outlast several soles if conditioned. That maths is the argument for buying fewer, better pairs.
