A penny loafer has the signature strap band across the vamp; a plain slip-on drops it for a cleaner line. Both are backed the same way and slip on without laces; the penny just reads a touch more formal.

Are the black and white loafers printed or real animal hide?

They are print on leather, not exotic skin. The zebra and giraffe pairs are art printed and finished onto full-grain leather, so you get the pattern without the hide.
